Sleeping pad helps to protect your body temperature and to keep you warm. Even if you are camping in tropical mountains, you still have to consider the wind that blows underneath your hammock. That’s why you need to ‘insulate’ yourself using sleeping pad. The theory is, the bulkier, the warmer. You may choose the bulkier one, but you need to consider that the pad will add extra load. Or, the thinner one, which will less insulate you but less heavy. You may also choose the ultra-light version yet still give you good insulation, but sometimes it comes a little bit pricey. So, be careful when choosing what type of sleeping pad for you hammock.
